Hurdles to Overcome: Policy Procedure Data

As teachers and students make the digital transition in support of online and blended learning, schools and districts are becoming increasingly aware of their responsibilities around student data privacy. One area of concern is the "click through" app. This refers to digital tools that allow individual teachers and students to accept the Terms of Service. How do districts create processes that balance the need for data privacy with the desire to encourage innovation? Learn how one district created procedures for teachers to review digital tools.
This will be an interactive session. After a brief presentation on the key issues, participants will work in groups using a protocol to guide the discussion and will share out their concerns. Then they will review an actual Term of Service Agreement using the checklist and guidelines and google form provided. All resources used in the session will be shared online.
